Horse Rider Biomechanics: Precision in the Saddle

True harmony between horse and rider begins with the rider’s own biomechanics. Many riding issues—such as asymmetrical seat, "heavy" hands, or back pain—are not just technical riding faults; they are often the result of underlying physical compensations, lack of core stability, or poor neuromuscular firing patterns.

As a specialist in Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine and an expert in human movement, I apply scientific gait analysis and biomechanical principles to help riders of all levels achieve a more efficient, balanced, and injury-free seat, not only for yourself, but for your horse as well!

Ready to find your balance?

I offer stationary gait and Standing analyses in my lab, mobile services at your stable, and online consultations across Europe and the World!

My Scientific Approach

Just as I analyze walking or cycling, I use high-tech diagnostic tools to visualize exactly what is happening in your body while you ride:

  • High-FPS Video Analysis: We record your movement in the saddle to identify even the smallest deviations in posture and timing, in conjunction with the horses movement patterns, to better understand Reason and Symptom.

  • EMG-Biofeedback: We measure muscle activity in real-time. This reveals which muscles are firing too late, too early, or not at all while training.

  • Pressure- and Video- Biofeedback: Understanding how your weight is distributed while standing helps in correcting seat imbalances that can confuse or strain your horse and yourself.

Why Choose Biomechanical Rider Analysis?

  • Prevent Injury: Address the root causes of back and hip pain before they lead to long-term damage.

  • Improve Horse Welfare: A balanced rider is a lighter, clearer-communicating rider.

  • Professional Insight: Receive a medical-grade analysis from a specialized doctor who understands anatomy, physics and psychology.

  • "Efficiency in the saddle is not just about aesthetics; it is about the physics of movement." — Rok Stojan

From Analysis to Mastery: The 8-Level Training System

We don’t just show you what is wrong; we give you the tools to fix it. My unique training protocol takes you from the initial analysis to "Competition Ready" (Level 7):

  • Level 0 (Biofeedback): The most critical step. Using EMG and Video Biofeedback, you learn to consciously feel and activate the correct muscles.

  • Level 1–3 (Foundational Strength & Power): Improving the isolated strength of the "riding muscles" and building power.

  • Level 4–6 (Complexity & Elasticity): Moving toward complex, combined muscle patterns and eccentric training to mirror the dynamic forces of a moving horse.

  • Level 7 (Performance): Specific training for high-level competition or the specialized demands of your specific riding discipline.
